Welcome to Jumpmind Reveal, a blog series showcasing some of the talented folks we have here at Jumpmind. In today’s installment, we bring you a profile on Philippe Fregeau, one of our newest Jumpmind employees who recently joined the company to lead enterprise sales and go-to-market efforts.
Can you tell us about your background?
I’ve been in the retail industry for practically my entire life. My grandparents owned a store, and I helped them after school with inventory. My work ethic comes from them; they taught me the value of working hard and hustling.
In high school, I was a jock who played a lot of sports, but I was also really into coding. My dad was an IT guy, so I developed an early interest in technology. That’s how I ultimately ended up working in the retail tech industry.
Thanks to my background, I can empathize with retailers and understand the complexities they face, while also understanding the technologies and back-end systems they need.
What made you excited to join Jumpmind?
I’ve worked in the in-store technology sector for over ten years and was already familiar with Jumpmind. What’s fascinating is that most Jumpmind customers today come from referrals. The fact that so many people refer Jumpmind to others in their network validates that we have a great product. I see a big opportunity to spread the word to even more retailers and educate them about Jumpmind and what we have to offer.
It’s also an exciting time for the industry. Retailers are investing more in the in-store experience as consumers return to shopping in stores post-pandemic. People still shop online, but they increasingly want to go to a store to touch, feel and experience merchandise in real life.
Brands such as Bass Pro Shops that have been proactive in providing a value-added experience are killing it. You can spend six hours in a Bass Pro Shop store having a good time. At other retailers, I’m seeing creative in-store offerings such as coffee shops and kombucha taps. It’s more important than ever for retailers to unite their in-store and digital experiences to make everything seamless for customers.
Where can we find you outside of work?
Probably doing something active. Growing up, I played hockey and soccer. Now, I play soccer in a league with friends here in Montreal.
I’m also into trail running. I’m training for three trail races in the mountains this year.
For me, getting outside and playing sports are so important for mental well-being. The chance to disconnect from the computer and be in the moment is key.
