Meet Kalum Metcalf: Helping Retailers Punch Above Their Weight
Welcome to Jumpmind Reveal, a blog series showcasing some of the talented folks we have here at Jumpmind. In today’s installment, we bring you a profile on Kalum Metcalf, Jumpmind’s Retail Transformation Lead in EMEA, who joined the team in February.
Hi Kalum, and welcome to Jumpmind. Can you tell us a little bit more about your background?
I’ve always been passionate about retail and I have been working in the industry for several years. I’m definitely one of the youngest team members here at Jumpmind, so I’m excited to bring the Gen Z perspective to retailers.
My background is in luxury fashion, and personal style is a passion of mine. I used to collect designer clothes and trainers (that’s “athletic/running shoes” for all those non Brits) – I once had 30 pairs. I’m excited about this role at Jumpmind because I have the opportunity to bring that passion to work, helping retailers modernize their stores.
And where are you based?
I’m based in Norwich, England. I was born here but spent a lot of time in Spain growing up. My father, stepmother and sister live there.
I first met Shaun Britton, who leads Jumpmind’s EMEA operations, at a retail industry event. When the opportunity came to join the team, I jumped at the chance to come on board.
What will you be doing at Jumpmind?
I’ll be helping to grow our operations in EMEA, helping retailers in the region transform from legacy to modern POS architectures and improve their customer experience. Everything I’d heard about Jumpmind has been positive, and the company is on an amazing trajectory. Customers are happy, and the company is getting a lot of industry recognition. I also love that it’s architecture-first, with a big team of engineers behind it. The product is already implemented across thousands of stores, and it clearly works well at scale across multiple countries.
Where can we find you when you’re not working?
You can usually find me watching or participating in sports. I’m a huge Norwich City (football club) fan. I also enjoy watching boxing. I was a boxer in my teenage years, and I still train two to three times a week.
If you have ever had a call with me, you might have had a chance to lay eyes on the Mike Tyson glove in my home office!
The athlete-to-Jumpmind journey seems to be a common thread in these Reveals. A lot of Jumpmind team members also have pets – what about you?
I do! I have a pug, her name is Millie.
